Jim Flannery: Jim Flannery is a former high school physics teacher who now advocates for self-directed education and is the creator of the Peer Unschooling Network, a digital community for young self-directed learners. His most recent project is an app that teaches young people how to thrive without school called LEAVE SCHOOL: what teachers can’t tell you. What’s on the horizon? An alternate reality game called “21 DAYS: After the War” which doubles as an adolescent boot camp in self-directed education.
Walker Meyn
Walker is the founder of the Academia Coalition Discord Server, a new platform for SDE advocates to unite against compulsory schooling, and is the author of the Academia Manifesto, published by the National Youth Rights Association, The Academia Manifesto is a comprehensive guideline for how to implement Self-Directed Education as a national model of future education, based heavily on the research of Dr. Peter Gray. If we expect to live in a truly democratic society, free from authoritarianism, we must not only look at how we treat our youngest citizens, but especially on how our schooling system reflects on said treatment.
